THE BOOK DESCRIPTiON:
Don’t you always plan the perfect Christmas?
Don’t you always think it will be the best one ever?
And doesn’t something always come along and screw it up?
Katy’s been stuck in the office away from her family so she wants it all: snow (fake or real), the Michael Bublé Christmas album, whatever it takes.
There’s only one thing missing as far as her husband Ben is concerned: another baby to complete their family. But Katy isn’t so sure she’s ready yet…
Ben may be playing the role of Master Elf in the pre-school nativity but he is struggling to master his own family life. With romantically-challenged friends, an ex who refuses to go away and Katy’s mum’s 64-year-old toy boy thrown into the mix, Christmas looks like it could be going off the rails… Never mind family planning, can Katy and Ben even plan to make it to the end of Christmas Day?
I loved the opening pages, we learn so much so easily about Katy and Bens relationship and the Christmassy scene is set with the hemp
If Bens 6 foot inflatable reindeer but after a surprise phone call and a shock for Katy, Bens imagined perfect Christmas for them and their three year old Millie is threatened …
‘This was a disaster of epic proportions. Christmas with his deranged mother in law and her geriatric toy boy. This was not how he had imagined it’
When I read this I knew I was in for some hilarity and couldn’t wait to read more.
Witty, sharpe humour within the dialog hilariously funny and so well observed loved it.
The one thing that really hit me about ‘ No one ever has sex on a Christmas day’ was just how very readable it was, so easy and so absorbing, the story fluidly flows and you get so caught up that the pages turn and turn and before you know it it’s 1 am 👀👀👀 ooops!! Always a sign of a very good book.
Definitely putting his up there with one of my favourites, and highly recommend for a well written and funny and for being a book that I could relate to on so many levels.
The perfect Christmas ? Not sure it exists because families are messy and so is life but as Is captured here that’s what makes it so special! This is like a fly on the way of real family life , friendships and relationships.
